Privacy Policy

🔒 No Student Data. Ever.

Fantasy Government collects no student data — not as a policy choice, but as an architectural fact. The database has no schema for storing per-student activity. Students participating in classroom leagues do so through their teacher's account or a read-only class code; we record nothing about which student did what.

Because we do not collect, store, or process any student data, the substantive requirements of COPPA, FERPA, and state student-privacy laws are sidestepped at the architectural layer — there is no student data for these laws to regulate. We confirmed this commitment with an internal schema audit on May 27, 2026.

1. Who We Are

Fantasy Government LLC ("Fantasy Government", "we", "us", or "our") operates the website at www.fantasygovernment.com. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: email address, display name, and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth — we never store plaintext passwords)
  • Payment information: billing details processed securely by Stripe. We never store your full credit card number on our servers.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, league activity, draft picks, and scoring interactions
  • Device and browser data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring URLs collected automatically via analytics tools
  • Communications: any messages you send to us via support or contact forms

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide, operate, and improve the Fantasy Government service
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, scoring notifications)
  • To respond to your support requests
  • To monitor and improve app performance and fix bugs via error tracking (Sentry)
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve the product via analytics (PostHog)
  • To comply with legal obligations

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may receive your data:

  • Supabase — database, authentication hosting, and OAuth brokering. Privacy Policy
  • Google — Sign in with Google OAuth (receives your name, email, and profile information when you choose this sign-in method). Privacy Policy
  • Stripe — payment processing. Privacy Policy
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (account confirmations, password resets, league and scoring notifications). Privacy Policy
  • Upstash — Redis caching for rate limiting, draft state, and background job coordination. Privacy Policy

  • PostHog — product analytics. Privacy Policy
  • Sentry — error tracking. Privacy Policy
  • Vercel — website hosting and analytics. Privacy Policy
  • Congress.gov API / Senate.gov — public congressional data (no personal data shared)

5. We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. Period.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (e.g., transaction records required by tax law).

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@fantasygovernment.com.

8. Children's and Student Privacy

Fantasy Government's consumer product (individual subscriptions, public leagues) is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from consumer users under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created a consumer account, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

Our Teacher Mode product is designed for middle- and high-school civics classrooms (grades 7–12). Per the commitment at the top of this policy, we collect no student data of any age. Students do not create accounts, and the database has no schema for recording per-student activity. COPPA's substantive requirements regarding children under 13 do not apply to our classroom use case because there is no covered information being collected, stored, or processed. FERPA and state student-privacy laws are likewise sidestepped at the architectural layer.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and role-level security policies on our database. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on the site. Continued use of Fantasy Government after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
