What's New

New features, improvements and fixes, newest first.

Your Monday email is named after your team

The weekly summary used to arrive with your league name in the subject line. If you play a solo game against The Incumbents, so does everyone else, so every Monday email looked the same in your inbox and you could not tell one week from another at a glance. The subject now carries your team name instead. Nothing changed about your league or your team, only the line you see before you open it.

The recess notice now says which chamber is out

Your dashboard and league pages used to say Congress was in recess whenever either chamber was away, and told you scoring had paused even in weeks when the other chamber was voting and your matchups were scoring normally. They now name the chamber that is out, say which one is still in session, and give each chamber its own return date, because the House and Senate do not always come back on the same day. The line about scoring being paused appears only when both chambers are out, which is the only time it is true.

The home page says when Congress is out

The home page used to say Congress was in session no matter what, including through a recess. It now says when a chamber is out, names the recess and the date they are back, and says that bills are still being introduced and cosponsored in the meantime. When only one chamber is out it says which one, and that the other is still voting. The live scoring feed also keeps the last real floor business on screen while Congress is away, so you can still see the most recent bills passed, reported and signed into law, each with its own date.

Your Monday email now says when Congress is out

The Monday email that recaps your week was repeating the same result every week of the Election Recess. Nothing was scored twice and no standings were affected: the points in those emails were real, earned in the week that ended October 4. The email now reports the week that actually just ended. When Congress is out it says which chamber is out and why, shows the District Work Points your lineup earned from bills introduced and cosponsored, and names the day floor votes return. In a normal week it now also tells you when one chamber was out and the other was in session.

Adding your home address is one step now

If your account has no home address on file, we now ask for it once when you sign in. Your address is what tells us your state and congressional district, so we can show you your own Senators and Representative. You can skip it, and your leagues, legislator pages and scoring all work without it.

    Report a chat message

See something in league chat that should not be there? Tap Report under the message and we will take a look.

  7. October 2, 2026

    Cleaner league chat

League chat now hides offensive language automatically, GIF search shows family-friendly GIFs only, and searches for offensive terms return no results. New display names, team names and league names are checked the same way.

Classroom tools have moved to Congress Classroom

Lessons and class pages for teachers now live at congressclassroom.com, which is free for classrooms. Fantasy Government is focused on leagues, legislator stats and Follow the Money.

Updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

We removed the sections about classroom leagues, which now live at Congress Classroom. The Terms also now say plainly that Civics Fan is billed once a year.

Updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

Accounts are now open to anyone 13 or older; if you are under 18, you confirm you have a parent or guardian's permission. The Privacy Policy now spells out that we keep the home address you sign up with, why, and that it is never shown to other users.

  11. September 30, 2026

Follow the Money opens Monday, October 5

Call the campaign-finance races in the weeks before Election Day, using public FEC filings. Correct calls add to your season total. Included with Civics Fan, and in any league run by a Civics Fan commissioner. Look for it on your dashboard, your team page and your league page.

  12. September 29, 2026

    My Leagues shows every league

If you play in more than one league, the My Leagues page now lists all of them, newest first.

  13. September 24, 2026

    More reliable bill updates

When Congress.gov is briefly unavailable, we now try again before moving on, so fewer bill updates are missed.
